Pressure by Democrats on Israel Shows Their Support for Human and Civil Rights - Does Not Put them in Peril

Pressure by Democrats on Israel shows their support for human and civil rights.
The factually challenged rant "Robbins: Left's anti-Israel trend puts Dems - and Israel - in Peril," 8/7/2018) is another in the long 30 year propaganda campaign by Israel and many representatives of mainstream Jewish organizations to keep Americans from becoming aware of Israel’s 50+ year illegal occupation, its 123 illegal settlement policy, its over 100,000 violations of international human rights laws and its potential accusation of war crimes. (Their latest deception is the unconstitutional Anti-Semitism Awareness Act that would punish universities that permit students or faculty to legitimately criticize Israel).

The nearly two million Palestinians living in Gaza have been subject to an inhumane blockade by Israel in retaliation for Gazans having the audacity to elect Hamas in a democratic election in 2007. Predictions are that Gaza, because of the blockade, will be uninhabitable in 2020.

The writer has to know that the protest in Gaza was instituted, not by Hamas, but by men, women and children living in intolerable conditions, having nothing to lose. Their peaceful protest, but recently also consisting of some protestors flying incendiary BALLOONS and KITES over the fence causing what …. grass fires, was met, starting on March 30 by Israel’s excessive military action (missiles, snipers, tanks, apache helicopters), known as the “Passover Massacre”. Since that date, 161 Palestinians have been killed (including a pregnant woman and her 1 year old daughter from a military plane yesterday)  and over 17,000 wounded.

I agree Democratic base voters are more hostile to Israel than at any point in decades and Israel is, indeed, in peril because it refuses to end its brutal treatment of Palestinians. Many Democratic politicians are also responding to Israel’s savagery by ignoring the threats of loss of contributions, intimidation and fear of being smeared with false claims of ant-Semitism. They are speaking out and signing on to resolutions opposing the cruelty of Israel’s leaders, especially to children.

How sad that some in the Jewish community, in order to provide cover for Israel’s injustices, resort to criticizing President Barack Obama and praising President (pro-tem) Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, David Friedman and Alan Dershowitz.

Democrats will be rewarded by increased support from voters for joining a world-wide movement for peace with justice for Palestinians.
